Follow weather, water and changing coastal light.
This eight-day tour follows Iceland’s South and East coasts from Vík through the glacier lagoons to Vestrahorn. Two-night bases protect sunrise and evening field sessions while leaving room to respond to wind, surf, road conditions and the strongest available light.
Late April brings long spring days and a compelling meeting point between winter and spring: lingering snow and ice, active waterfalls, black-sand coastlines and rapidly changing weather.

Field sessions span waterfalls, black-sand beaches, glacier lagoons, mountain coastlines and the Vík–Vestrahorn corridor. Exact daily locations follow safe access and the best available conditions.
The route includes two nights near Vík, two along the glacier coast, two at Vestrahorn/Höfn and a final westbound staging night near Hvolsvöllur.

THE EIGHT-DAY ROUTE
Two-night bases. Sunrise and evening light. Room to respond.
Apr 22–23 · Vík and the South Coast
Morning collection at KEF, then travel southeast toward Vík with geothermal and coastal field stops as conditions allow. Two nights near Vík support Dyrhólaey, Reynisfjara, waterfalls and the surrounding coast.
Apr 24–25 · Glacier coast
Continue east through volcanic terrain, waterfalls and the Southeast black church to two nights near Jökulsárlón. Photograph Diamond Beach, glacier lagoons and a condition-appropriate guided glacier or ice experience.
Apr 26–27 · Höfn, Vestrahorn and Eystrahorn
Two nights near Vestrahorn support repeated sunrise and evening sessions, plus Hvalnes/Eystrahorn, Höfn and weather-selected Southeast subjects.
Apr 28–29 · Westbound field day and KEF
Follow the strongest available light west to an overnight near Hvolsvöllur. The core tour concludes with a scheduled Apr 29 transfer to KEF.

I work beside you in the field, demonstrate how I read the light, and give specific feedback on composition, exposure, focal length and the frame you are building. With only four photographers, instruction stays personal and continues through guided image reviews at our shared bases.

Seven nights across Vík, the glacier coast, Vestrahorn and Hvolsvöllur—built for photographers who want repeated field time, direct instruction and the flexibility Iceland requires.
A $1,625 deposit reserves one photographer place and is applied toward the $6,495 total. The remaining $4,870 balance is due February 21, 2027.

What is included?
Seven nights’ shared accommodation, licensed ground transportation from KEF and return, field instruction, guided image reviews and one condition-appropriate guided glacier or ice experience.
What is the group size?
The tour is limited to four photographers, with Brian and a licensed driver. Three places are currently available.
Why April 22–29?
Late April offers long spring days and a compelling meeting point between winter and spring: lingering snow and ice, active waterfalls, and rapidly changing coastal light.
What happens if minimum enrollment is not reached?
All four photographer registrations are required for the tour to operate. If the minimum is not reached by December 22, 2026, all payments will be refunded to the original payment method. Please wait for departure confirmation before purchasing nonrefundable airfare.
What is not included?
Airfare, meals, travel insurance, personal expenses and the optional Þórsmörk extension are separate.
How do I reserve my place?
