Ice, moving water and Lake Superior light—with a small group and room to work.
THE EXPERIENCE
Winter simplifies the shore—and reveals more.
We will follow changing ice, weather and lake light instead of racing through a checklist. The small group lets us slow down, refine compositions and return when conditions deserve another look.
This is a working photography experience: we shoot together, review what is happening in the frame and adapt the plan around the strongest light.
WHAT YOU'LL PHOTOGRAPH
Ice, shoreline, frozen falls and winter light.
Locations remain flexible so the group can respond to Lake Superior, weather and the best available light.
Aurora and night photography are included only when conditions cooperate.

Feedback at your camera
With four participants, you receive specific coaching on composition, exposure, focal length, focus and filters, adjusted to your experience and goals.

A FLEXIBLE THREE-DAY PLAN
Built around conditions, not clockwork.
Day 1 · Find the rhythm
Sunrise orientation, shoreline compositions, midday field review and sunset or blue-hour work.
Day 2 · Chase the strongest conditions
Waterfalls, ice detail, longer exposures and an alternate sunset location chosen around the weather.
Day 3 · Refine and finish
Return to the best opportunity, individual coaching and a final field session.

I work beside you in the field, demonstrate how I read the light, and give specific feedback on composition, exposure, focal length and the frame you are building. With only four participants, instruction can respond to your experience, questions and the conditions in front of us.

A $250 deposit reserves your place. The remaining $745 balance is due December 21, 2026. This workshop is limited to four photographers and will operate with a minimum of three paid participants.

Know what to expect.
How demanding is the workshop?
Expect short approaches, uneven winter footing and long periods outdoors. Exact locations adapt to safety, weather and the group's mobility.
What happens if the weather changes?
The schedule flexes. Safety comes first, and locations shift to use the strongest available conditions.
Will we photograph the aurora?
We will add night or aurora photography when skies, solar activity and safe access cooperate; it is an opportunity rather than a guaranteed part of the schedule.
What is the cancellation policy?
More than 60 days before the workshop, your deposit may be transferred once to another 2BPhotographyMN tour taking place within 18 months. Within 60 days, all payments are nonrefundable. If 2BPhotographyMN cancels or the three-participant minimum is not reached, all payments are refunded.
