THE EXPERIENCE

Weather is not an interruption—it is the subject.

Scotland rewards patience. We will work with passing rain, broken light, mist and wind rather than waiting for a perfect forecast, using the landscape to give weather scale and meaning.

The small group allows the route to flex and the instruction to stay personal, with time to refine composition instead of collecting the same view from every stop.

WHAT YOU'LL PHOTOGRAPH

Heather, ridgelines, lochs and coastal weather.

The route remains flexible so the group can follow weather, access and the strongest available light.

The workshop begins with Edinburgh Airport pickup, then one night in Glencoe and the remaining included nights in a shared/twin Airbnb on the Isle of Skye. All scheduled ground transport is provided.

HOW THE TEACHING WORKS

See the decision. Build the frame. Carry it forward.

01

Field decisions made visible

I explain why we wait, move, change lenses, simplify—or abandon—a frame as light and weather change.

02

Feedback at your camera

With four participants, you receive specific coaching on composition, exposure, focal length, focus and filters, adjusted to your experience and goals.

03

Review what worked

Guided image reviews connect field choices to stronger selects and practical processing decisions, so the learning carries beyond this location.

A FLEXIBLE SIX-DAY JOURNEY

Built around weather, access and light.

Day 1 · Read the landscape

Arrival orientation, first field session and a shared approach to weather-driven planning.

Day 2 · Moor, mountain and changing light

Dawn through evening with the route chosen around cloud, wind and visibility.

Day 3 · Water and reflection

Lochs, coast or river landscapes with composition and exposure coaching.

Day 4 · Work beyond the icons

Quieter roads, intimate studies and a return when the weather earns it.

Day 5 · Refine the work

Use a full field day for individual priorities, a return earned by the weather and stronger final variations.

Day 6 · Final light and return

Photograph a final dawn when practical, then return to Edinburgh within the scheduled transfer window.

GUIDED BY BRIAN BIELKE

Landscape-first. Personal. Built from experience in the field.

I work beside you in the field, demonstrate how I read the light, and give specific feedback on composition, exposure, focal length and the frame you are building. With only four participants, instruction can respond to your experience, questions and the weather in front of us.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Know what to expect.

Where will the workshop be based?

Pickup is at Edinburgh Airport. The first night is in Glencoe; the remaining included nights use shared/twin Airbnb lodging on the Isle of Skye.

What happens in poor weather?

Rain, mist and broken light are part of the photographic opportunity. The route flexes for safety, visibility and the strongest available conditions.

Should I book flights now?

Wait until the two-photographer minimum is confirmed in writing and the Edinburgh pickup and return windows are issued before purchasing nonrefundable airfare.

What is the cancellation policy?

More than 60 days before the workshop, your deposit may be transferred once to another 2BPhotographyMN tour taking place within 18 months. Within 60 days, all payments are nonrefundable. If 2BPhotographyMN cancels or the two-participant minimum is not reached, all payments are refunded.
